Ifrane late mornings, chill and fog surrounding my existence here, I went out and back in the house after a couple of walk about in the Centreville trying to figure out what I'd like to stuff in my tummy. Didn't get anything though but instead gulped my cola and chicken tangine for my brunch.
And then.
I started my reading again about Photography and I came across the name Walter Paul Bebirian. His works can be seen at ImageKind and you'll love the toning he has done to his works. I love the blue tone he has given to one of his forest photos.
So far my journey in the world of photography has allowed me to see subtle and major errors in the shots that I make. Framing a subject, I have learned thru actual shooting, the usual "center the subject" is actually very uncreative. Tilting my digicam often adds flavor and sting to my shots. The centering does it's job mostly when taking scenic shots. Rarely it does well when I take photos of human subjects. I don't know why but I guess too much centering is just plain boring.
Next element I've been "seeing" in the photos I take are the colors. I now "see" the effects of light on my subjects. Although I only have the less than $100.00 worth point and shoot digicam given to me by a friend before I left for Morocco, I now make it a point to check on the availability of light coming from the sun or from any artificial light within the subject's suroundings. It helps to download ebooks about digital photography as it will always give you the sense of "I know this is what it says from the book" and then find out how to apply it in real life.
Let's see now, framing, colors...
Next element is the composition. I don't really know if this is the right term or if this is the umbrella category above framing, colors and other elements.
But when I try to "figure out" how my photo will come out, I go crazy about this. A lot of times I'm torn between capturing a moment and producing a nice shot. This is where I can see the difference between a $ 1000.00 plus worth of camera and a less than $ 100.00 worth of camera.
The good thing is, I have a batchmate from my grade school days who is a part of my Facebook network and he is into professional photography. I get to consult him anytime about photography and most of the time he provides me more than your usual consultancy replies. Thanks!

I'm giving myself the time to learn and practice as much before I purchase that Nikon or Canon SLR Camera. Sometime around December 2009 I might be clicking and posting photos from Nikon or Canon. We will see by then but for now I just have to go thru the old school route, bang and tang with my point and shoot!
