Football Scene: The Pros and The Youth

In case you missed it, either by having too much on your plate, or life has been crazy or you've been all over the place, Philippine Football League gets a reboot and they are now calling it Philippine Premier League.

Surprisingly, hush-hush turns into buzz and the buzzing can only be read between the lines. Le' me share ABS-CBN's Football: Philippine Premier Leaguer eplaces PFL.

As always, I wish our Philippine Football to continue moving forward in favor of youth development. If you will remember, Philippine Football Federation is looking for people to help them in the coaches and youth development.

Education is the key if we want to improve on anything.

Holler if you agree!

And with that, I'd like to share some of the tournament announcements we've been passing around in our CFA Chat Group:

Founders' Cup: Day 3 Match Results, Photos and Videos

Scholastic Basketball Camp-Founders' Cup - Our Day 3 games have been played and what an exciting day it was for Founders' Cup. We had our usual six-game schedule and the results are here:
16 & Under Division:

La Camelle School (59)  Win vs SV Montessori (40)
La Trinidad Academy (45) vs Charis Christian Institute (53) Win

12 & Under DIvision:

La Trinidad Academy Team A Win (54) vs La Camelle School (24)
La Trinidad Academy Team B Win (20) vs SV Montessori (10)
SV Montessory vs La Camelle School (Winner by Default)
La Trinidad Academy Team A (45) vs Charis Christian Academy (53) Win

Our tournament team standings have been updated. For the 16 & Under division, Charis Christian Institute is on top with 3 wins in as many games. On second spot is La Trinidad Academy with two wins and one lose. With one win and 3 losses is La Camelle School on third spot and SV Montessori is yet to get that first win.

In the 12 & Under division, Charis Christian Institute forces a two-way with La Trinidad Academy Team A when they beat the latter with a score of 53-45. It was a tight ballgame the entire four quarters with both teams running the ground non-stop. Up until the one minute and 25 seconds, CCI was only up by five points. With a couple of turn-overs for LTA-Team A, CCI went on to finish the game with a bigger margin, 53-45. On second spot is La Camelle School with three wins and one lose. SV Montessori, is yet to get that first win.

In the 12 & Under division, SV Montessori played with all their might and heart. Playing with only four players for the entire game, they led most of the first half. It didn't matter and it didn't show that they were missing a player at all. In fact, most of the coaches agreed they could have won the game if there was a fifth player for SVM.

In the same division, the match between CCI and LTA was a showdown and it all went in favor of the team that finds the player in a better scoring position, Charis Christian Institute would always find their teammates free or closer to the basket. What a great way to honor the game, playing as a team.

We are now officially in the second round of the tournament.  If the trend continues, LTA and CCI , current leaders of the tournament, will give us a treat for the championship.

We're halfway there! Lez' go Founders!

Founders' Cup: Day 1 Match Results

Scholastic Basketball Camp-Founders' Cup will play six games every Saturdays for six weekends. Day one is over and the results are below:

The day began with a game in the sixteen under division or Born 2002 division.La Trinidad Academy showed its years of playing together by winning against SV Montessori, a team that showed courage and determination with limited players available for them. It was apparent that LTA has been playing in several tournaments as a team was just too strong against the opposition. And in the other game from the same division, Charis Christian Institute had a dominant play against La Camelle School. In both these games, the league's "Mercy Rule" was implemented, allowing all players to appreciate the game from a learner's standpoint.

In the Twelve under division or Born 2006 division, four games were played in a lopsided manner but one. La Camelle School won over SV Montessori, 36-16 while La Trinidad Academy-A won versus Charis Christian Institute, 64-30. Charis Christian Institute recovers and wins against SV Montessori, 38-18. In the final game, La Camelle School and La Trinidad Academy-Team B played nip and tuck up to the last second of the game. La Camelle won with a slim margin, 36-33.

Watch out for our game schedule coming out very soon!

CFA Results: 2nd Festival of Schools and Clubs Football Association

News just in:

Cavite Football Academy (CFA) Team Born 2009 wins five (5) games out of five, with their opponents NOT scoring a single goal! Yeah! You read (red) it right, CFA Team Born 2009 not giving up a single goal in winning their five games for today's Second Festival of Schools and Clubs Football Association, hosted by Marist School of Marikina.

From what we were told by parents and coaches,  there were teams sent by Don Bosco Technical College, Keys International School, Atletico Diliman, Claret School of QC and 8NF.

In the other Age-groups, our CFA Team Born '07-08 won four games and lost 3 in the Born 2007 Division. It's good to note that some of the members of this team are Southern Tagalog CALABARZON Athletic Association and this serves a one of a series of tune-up tournaments for the boys.

Congratulations CFA and thank you to everyone who made it possible for our players to participate and be prepared for the Second Festival of Schools and Clubs Football Association. Special mention to the following for sending us photos, results and updates in today's games: Ms MeRiam, Coach Segundo "Gonie" Segundo Saluria Jr., Mr. Angelo Corsiga Guengon and Ms Victoria Ayala.

Here are the copies of the list of matches for the Festival:

Update: Creative Education Interventions

Hello everyone!

It has been months, about five months may I say, since the last time I shared something on this blog. We have been very busy with our preparing the next generation. Our voluntary work at CEI, (Creative Education Interventions) has given has more opportunities to share our STAR Values in the areas of academics, basketball, chess and community service learning.

First stop, our work in Scholastic Chess Camp allowed us to train and prepare chess coaches in running their own chess camps and sessions among developmental players by giving individual consultation sessions with several coaches in the province of Cavite. We also had a hand in helping a school select a coach for their developmental program in chess. A planned year-end tournament would have been a great way to finish strong in 2018 but it wasn't meant to be. Maybe in 2019. We still are offering individual chess lessons among the select few.

In basketball, Scholastic Basketball Camp has taken a major breakthrough for CEI in the last quarter f 2018 and spilled-over to 2019. Who would have thought that we will go on to stage a successful 3x3 Age-Group Basketball Tournament in October and November? And from the network we have established in several Barangays in Imus and Bacoor, we were tapped to be the Commissioner for Founders Cup of Scholastic Basketball Camp. And in the late  2017, we got our first-ever basketball championship at the Association of Private Schools of Imus City Friendship Meet.

In the academics, Teacher C is still at the helm of our after-school reading education and tutorial work. Who would have thought?

And this year, 2019, I volunteered to run an online journal for my son's Cavite Football Academy. You can visit the site here. You can show support by clicking FOLLOW and sharing it to you friends on your social media accounts. I beg you, please share.

I tried to make my YouTube account useful by uploading photo-videos of CEI projects in the last quarter of 2018 and you can visit them there ==> Coach Francis

Most probably I'l be giving updates regularly this year. See you soon guys!

Talent Search: 2 Players for CFA

Cavite Football Academy is looking for two more players for Team Born 2005. Remember, CFA maintains three (3) teams, Born 2005, Born 2007 & Born 2009 with  twenty (20) players for each.

After the two-day tryout, there were only eighteen players who made it to Team Born 2005. Philippine Football Federation's Festival of Football will be hosted by Laguna Province and it's happening in March this year. Cavite Teams will be represented by CFA for the following categories: U-15, U-13 and U-11.

So if you, or someone you know has this love for the game, commitment to train, and the skills, please visit CFA and join the training-tryout every Saturday, 8 AM to 12 NN at Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas City.

BTW, here are some videos I found on YouTube that gives tips on Youth Football Tryouts:

Remember to pray for everyone's safety and guidance!

Training Weekend 1: Snaps, Videos & Animations

I had a chance take some photos last weekend during the training and I'm sharing it here. By the way, CFA is maintaining three (3) teams with the following age-groups: Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11.

Did you know that these lucky football players are considered scholars of the Provincial Government of Cavite?

CFA a.k.a. Governor Jonvic Remulla Jr Football Academy provides these hardworking and talented footballers the following:
  • Year-round football training
  • Participation in several PFF-sanctioned tournaments, invitationals and CFA-sponsored events
  • Transportation services for training and tournament activities
  • Football kits
  • Monthly rice allowance
One important requirement for a player to qualify to the program is one must be a resident of the province.

I created a collage of the photos here:

And for those who wishes to have these photos saved per frame, it's right here:

2nd Festival of Schools and Clubs Football Association

Our CFA players for Born '07, '08 & '09 will be playing in the 2nd Festival of Schools and Clubs Football Association in Marikina City.  Game day is on Sunday, January 13, 2019,  hosted by Marist School and participated in by different schools and football clubs from Metro Manila and neighboring cities from CALABARZON.

From what I gathered, CFA teams made a great impression during the 1st Festival and I quote from one of the parents I talked to:

"Sabi nga ng mga parents sa amin, marurunong na pala mag-football ang mga tiga-Cavite!"

and he adds:

"Yung CFA Under 10 walang talo yun last time (1st festival)"

So yes, good luck boys and make your Academy proud! Play on!

Coaches of Cavite Football Academy 2019

We had our last day of player evaluation last Saturday at the Football field of PCU-Dasmarinas and our coaches had a tough time figuring out which player makes the cut. As they say, "cutting is the last resort" when a coach has to form a team out of tryout.

As a coach, it is never an easy task to announce to a group of aspiring and developing players that they didn't make the team. It never is and will never be easy to do that. Who loves rejection? Nobody right?

Coaches are given a lot of expectations and the most important of, to my opinion, is that they are looked up to by their players. If you want to know what kind of coach one is, just see how the team is behaving and acting. A lot of times, they mimic and mirror the behavior they see in their coaches.

Having said these, I would like to introduce the coaches of Cavite Football Academy for 2019:

From left to right:

Head Coach of University of Perpetual Help-Las Pinas

Cavite Football Academy Blog Launch

Hi everyone!

If you stumbled upon this blog, thank you for visiting. This will, hopefully, be the place where one can find news, updates, photos and videos of Cavite Football Academy or CFA.

Cavite Football Academy is a youth sports program under the sponsorship of the Provincial Government of Cavite made possible thru the efforts of former Governor Johnvic Remulla Jr. with Coach Chieffy Caligdong as the Head of the Program in 2016. There are nine coaches from different UAAP and NCAA football teams working as assistant coaches.

The Academy started with the help of Coach Segundo Saluria Jr a.k.a. Coach Gonie with the help of CAFA with FB Pages: Cavite Football Association and here.

Player try-outs were conducted for the teams of Under 8 and Under 10 with the football field in Malagasang serving as the training venue for three months. On the fourth month, CFA transferred and used Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas football field.

In 2018, Team Under 13 was formed giving more opportunities to youth football players from Cavite.
