As our school is getting ready for next week's class resumption, we've been very busy meeting with almost everyone in the school to discuss school activities for the incoming academic year.
In one of our meetings this week, I almost fell from where I was sitting as I saw the October 2008 calendard. It read:
"1st MGIS Invitational Chess Tournament"
Our school headmaster simply asked me: "Are we on Mr Francis?" To which I replied: "Yes sir! But I will not be able to confirm the date on which we'll be hosting the tourney yet..." "Ok! But it will be by October right?" And I nodded in with positive!
Some guidelines me and other colleagues to keep in mind when selecting would-be invited schools:
1. International schools that offer chess as an after school activity, not a varsity team;
2. Schools within the south, preferrably within the 100KM radius where MGIS is located. Hhmmm!
3. And...hhmmm! What else could it be?
