I'd like to share one article I received thru my google alerts called Tournament Preparation For Amateurs.
The writer is Bryan Castro based in USA but got me asking myself if he has Filipino blood because the link of his site has the word "kidlat 121". Hmmm!
Today is the 3rd round of NCAA Chess Tournament to be held in Jose Rizal University, remember our post here?
The World Junior Chess Championship is scheduled to happen from August 2-16 in Gaziantep, Turkey. Our representatives GM Wesley So and NM Haridas Pascua will have their hands full as the field will definitely yield the world's best juniors.
Coinciding with the juniors is the Beijing Olympics which is less than a week from now. The perceived lucky 8-8-8 or August 8, 2008 is D'day. Months ago, I wrote in my Pulso ng Makabagong Cavitenyo Sports Column that there is a possibility that the games will not push thru because of the following reasons: earthquake that killed lives, the hollywood backing out of Steven Spielberg, the Tibetan Monks demonstrations, air pollution issues and athletes safety.
I guess the Chinese government has made sure everything has been done to provide the necessary band aids for these long term problems for the success of the two week spectacular show on earth.
Good luck!
