As of the moment, we are round 8 is being played and our boys are up against the English, my headmaster's bet who is from UK who only has good words for us Filipinos!!!

So far, so good with our individual board scores:

Board 1: GM Wesley So 6.5 points.

Board 2: NM Haridas Pascua 4.5 points.

Board 3: Alcon John Datu 3.5 points.

Board 4: Jem Garcia 4.5 points.

Let's all join hands and pray for our boys, most especially those who need it most!

We're on the third spot with 19 points. On number one is India with 19.5 points and on second spot is Aremenia with 19.5 points too. Our chess hero, GM Wesley So will need a lot of support from his team mates. He can't win all his games and the rest draw or lose theirs.

On to NCAA Chess, the fight for the top four spots continu in the 9th round today. Here's the schedule for today and tomorrow's games:

Round 9 Saturday

Mapua Institute of Technology vs Jose Rizal University
San Sebastian College-Recoletos vs Mapua Institute of Technology
Colegio San Juan de Letran vs University of Perpetual Help System Dalta
College of St. Benilde BYE

Round 10 Sunday

Jose Rizal University vs College of St. Benilde
University of Help System Dalta vs San Sebastian College-Recoletos
San Beda College vs Mapua Institute of Technology
Colegio San Juan de Letan BYE

And news from MERACLO Chess Club:

MERALCO Jrs.'s TWIN SIMUL

"MERALCO Chess Club has planted the seeds in 2005 when it launched the NM
Cabellon Simul for employees and children of employees. It was the first
and was followed with more simuls by our country's leading masters such as
now-GM Wesley So in 2006 and 2007, GM Eugene Torre in 2007, NM Rolly
Andador in 2007, NM Marlon Bernardino in 2007 & 2008 and IM Husari of Syria
also in 2008. In these simuls, children of MERALCO employees were always
present to develop their games. But last weekend, it was the turn of the
developing seeds to share its fruit as two of their junior players
conducted separate simul matches.

Paulo Bersamina, the 2008 10 & Under National Champion and La Salle Green
Hills leading grade school player, did an 8-board simul at Malibay, Pasay
City scoring 6W, 1L & 1 D.

Junior Sol Cruz, 2008 San Benildo Integrated School Grade IV Champion and a
new member of the La Salle Green Hills Grade School Chess Team, did a
4-board simul at Tahanan Walang Hagdanan, Cainta scoring a 4-0 slate."

And in the 5th Dato Arthur Tan Malaysian Open Chess Championship 2008, we have our very own, GM Darwin Laylo on 7th spot while IM Ronald Dableo is on the 9th spot after round 8.
