Musings on World Rankings

Yo' men'!

Am off from work today because of chest pains radiating from a sore throat, thus my body mechanism reacts to the infection which brings forth fever.

With the house deserted since it's a Friday and Patricia needs to go to school, wife buys the needed supplies and our toddlers borrowed for a day (by grannies), what do I do with my dizzy state of life?

Random musings on the coming Olympiad! Let me start with the country ranking which the FIDE Official Website provides.

Russia boasts of having the highest average rating with 2717 and with that, they're on top of the world.

Ukraine has 2690 average rating and is placed on second spot.

China has 2651 to be on third and on fourth is Israel with 2642. On fifth is Azerbaijan with 2634.

Now, lets check out their team composition for the coming Olympiad:

Team Russia has a sky-high average rating of 2748.4. Names like Kramnik, Morozevich, Svidler, Grishuk and Jakovenko will send shivers on their opponents over the board. Moro has the highest rating in the team with 2787. And former World champion Kramnik is on board 1.

Is there any team that can match their deep and talented line up?

Team Ukraine sports an average rating of 2715. Ivanchuk,Karjakin, Eljanov, Efimenko and Volokitin make up the team with Ivanchuk having the higest rating of 2786.

Chuky vs Kramnik on board 1? Karjakin vs Moro on board 2? Team Russia will prevail.

Team China has an average rating of 2695.6. Wang, Bu, Ni, Wang and Li join forces to try and snatch the crown from the Europeans. Wang Yue on board 1 has the highest rating in the team with 2736.

Team Israel is next. Gelfand, Roiz, Avrukh, Postny and Rodshtein team up with veteran Gelfand on board 1 having the highest rating in the team with 2719.

Wang vs Gelfand on board 1 and Roiz vs Bu on board 2 who will turn blue?

Team Azerbaijan has Radjabov, Mamedyarov, Gashimov, Huseynov and Mammadov for first five boards. 2751 for Radjabov on board 1 while the team average ratings is 2693.

Defending champion and 9th placer in the FIDE country ranking Armenia will send a team composed of Aronian, Akopian, Sargissian, Petrosian and Minasian. Highest rated plaer in the team Lev Aronian with 2757. Hopefully, fist fights will no longer take place because of an irresistible Filipina named Arianne.

The world's top 5 playing in the Dresden Olympiad, who's going to make it to the top?
