Hey there!
Someone sent me this info:
Before the final game of our age grouper named David Cook (not a real name) the parents of his opponent approach his mother and asked if David can draw the game against their son. Whew! David's mom of course declined and sighted a lot of reasons for this.
Game-fixing at an early age, promoted and made reasonably acceptable to the eyes of the youngsters!
As a result, David played the game superbly! Sabi nga nung tatay "sa asar ng anak ko, pinisak nya kalaban nya...pag nag investigate ang NCFP, we will stand as a witness!"
Whew! The things that happen behind the scences...
Cheatings abound. Here's the Indian story about cheating guys. It has something to do with age groupers too.Over age in the 9 and under category as declared by the Delhi Chess Association.
When I joined the CAAP seminar two years ago, IA Gene Poliarco claimed "ang pinakamahirap i-handle na player eh chess player...iba iba ang takbo ng utak nyan!" Hehehehe!
It is really true. I believe chess is not really that bad and you'll agree with me I know.
These stories will definitely tell you why:Chess redeems, Chess lessons in classrooms... and lastly, that FUNdamental issues about chess : Basic Strategies and Tactics which can be applied in real life.
