2nd Asian Indoor Games

Hi there!

Here's a compilation of Chess Bulletin for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games- Chess courtesy of NM Erwin Carag:

DAY 00 – 25.11.07
BULLETIN NO. 1

MESSAGE

Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan, President, Asian Chess Federation

On behalf of the Asian Chess Federation, I welcome all participants to the 2nd Asian Indoor Games, Macau 2007.

We are very pleased that chess is part of the bigger family of sports in the Games and I thank the Olympic Council of Asia and the Macau Asian Indoor Games Organizing Committee for their support.

We in Asia are fortunate to have the most number of chess events in the Continental and Regional Games. This is recognition of the work of National Chess Federations in promoting our sport. I thank all federations who have sent chess teams to Macau for their contribution to the success of chess in the Games.

With three disciplines in the form of Standard, Rapid and Blitz chess in the Asian Indoor Games, our sport has 9 gold medals in the Games. Women’s chess has prominence as well in line with the Olympic goals of promoting women in sports.

This is an opportunity for all of us to show the best of chess to sports officials of our National Olympic Committees and the Olympic Council of Asia. Let us present chess favorably to the worldwide Olympic Movement.

I wish you all continued success.

WELCOME TO MACAU

Jose Silveirinha, President, Macau Chess Federation

Dear Chess Friends and members of our Chess Family,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Macau, a city which has grown from a small fishermen village in the 15th century, - gradually blended by the Chinese and Portuguese Cultures, where Far East and Far West were melted together - to an outstanding World Class International City, where Tourism and Entertainment are combined with an exceptional Cultural Heritage shown in every street corner.

Chess, an exceptional human activity too, where Science, Art and Sport are brought together, can carry us into moments of pure happiness…

Chess, being included in the Macau Indoor Asian Games 2007, has a very bright and promising future ahead. By entering into this exceptional event, under the auspices of the Asian Olympic Committee and the Asian Chess Federation, all of us have the great honor to represent our Countries in the Competition, and also to give our best contribution to the Development of Chess.

To all of you we wish all the success, and the most pleasant stay.

THIS IS OUR BULLETIN!

Together with the Macau Chess Federation we hope to come up with tournament bulletins daily (and on occasion, even twice daily).

Each issue will have the results of the previous day’s play with scores of games where possible, and of course the current standings.

But to make it something you are fully a part of, we ask for your cooperation and your contributions so we can have your stories, annotated games, etc. for all to enjoy.

The Bulletin Team - Peter Long, Nguyen Phuoc Trung, and Zhang Jilin
