RP's Hyper Habagat

Typhoon Gener started it then came hyper Habagat that brought water into the lives of many Filipinos in NCR and neighboring provinces.

This nameless wind that brought torrential rains destroyed properties, killed at least 10 people and made me stay at home for the whole week.

Its a pity to see families go through such a calamity. Properties are destroyed, lives are lost and income generating work hours are gone.

But we Filipinos are resilient. We will recover from this and we will.

With prayers and diligence, we will recover from this!

Floods After the Rain

CJ Corona was impeached the other day and the Filipino Nation is rejoicing!

Today was the last of two days for the workshop "Spotting and Handling Learning Difficulty in the Regular Classrooms" with me and Ms. Sonia. This year's workshop and seminar was very successful in so many ways.

The feedbacks from the participants were very positive and realistic. The teachers from the Special Education department of St. Andrew's School of Paranaque were relieved and hopeful at the same time. Relieved that the regular classroom teachers were receptive the entire workshop and hopeful that the learnings from this workshop carry-on in their classroom practices.

Also today, in the middle part of the day, the rain poured and it felt like it wouldn't stop.

And the floods all over Metro Manila.

How are we, as a nation, tolerate poor governance?

We impeached Corona and the whole nation says the process is working. We run after "suspected" thieves in government positions but they use the law to evade conviction, mocking all of us and screaming to their heart's content "catch me if you can!".

Ambo is the first typhoon to have arrived in the Philippines for the year 2012. Have we learned from the past? Did we plan, during the summer season, for the rainy days? Obviously, PNoy was busy running after CJ Corona.

Governance in the Philippines really sucks. The basic services that should be provided for the Filipino people have always sucked. Poor medical services, poor educational program, poor social security services and poor safety and security program.

But think about it, it's the Filipino people who vote for these crooks in the government.

Sad but true, these TRAditional POliticianS are getting richer every minute of their time their offices while millions of Filipinos are dying and suffering due to poor government services.

After each rain comes the floods not sunshine and this will go on forever unless we learn from history. The masses must know and the masses must learn but above all, the Filipinos should take action to lift their lives out of this vicious, often fatal, cycle called corruption.

Earth Day 2012

Today is Earth Day and everyone thinks going green is the best way to solve environmental problems plaguing our Mother Earth.  Environmental activists all around the world have tried in vain to help in preventing further damage to our only home which has suffered greatly since the dawn of industrialization.

I say "unless greed, abuse of power and selfishness is not addressed among the world's elite, our environment will never recover from further destruction".

The year 2012 is critical for all humans. Will we be seeing the end of times to see the new Era of Peace for Mankind? I repeat, it is the end of times that we are to look into and not the end of the world. It is the end of sinning for mankind and the reign of peace that we are looking forward to seeing.

Will our race be ready for the challenges ahead?

I guess these activists are screaming to their hearts discontent and yet missing the point. Greed, abuse of power and selfishness have led humanity to where we are now. We are now in a new dimension where the fight between good and evil is obvious.

Which side will you be in? It's your choice.

School Suspension due to Tropical Storm Juaning

We do not copy and paste materials here but we'd like to make an exemption here as we try to help disseminate the information to everyone concerned. No classes for Wednesday, July 27, 2011.

Read below the announcement of DepEd Assistant Secretary Tonisito Umali:

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Department of Education (DepEd) announced that classes will be suspended in the National Capitol Region (NCR), CALABARZON, Region 3 and other parts of Luzon on Wednesday, due to the inclement weather brought by tropical storm “Juaning.”

In a radio interview with radio dzMM on Tuesday, DepEd Assistant Secretary Tonisito Umali said classes in preschool, elementary, and high school—both public and private—will be suspended in the following areas:
  • NCR
  • Cavite
  • Laguna
  • Batangas
  • Rizal
  • Quezon
  • Aurora
  • Bataan
  • Bulacan
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Pampanga
  • Tarlac
  • Zambales
Classes at the pre-school and elementary levels will be suspended in:
  • Occidental Mindoro
Classes at the kindergarten level will be suspended in:
  • Isabela
  • Cagayan
  • Nueva Vizcaya
Umali said the announcement for suspension of classes in Region 1 will be made at 10 p.m. Tuesday. Metro Manila and 16 other areas in Luzon have been placed under public storm warning signal number 2 because of tropical storm "Juaning," weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.

Under DepEd guidelines, classes in lower levels are automatically suspended in an area if it is placed under storm signal number 2 or higher.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), meanwhile, has yet to issue a statement for colleges and universities in Metro Manila and other areas. During previous typhoons, the CHED left the decision to suspend classes in the tertiary level to university officials.

World News These Days

Kate Middleton found her prince and the whole world watched the Royal Wedding of the Century yesterday. The British Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton paid tribute to Princes Diana's life and memory. The engagement ring he gave his then girlfriend was his mom's engagement ring. The historic church of Westminster Abbey was the same church where the groom's parents took their oath as husband and wife. It is also the same church where Prince William walked quietly behind Princes Diana in a coffin.

More about this here. Tiring it is to type such names with title as prince and princes, not to mention baroness, baron and duke.

The Philippines' beloved Pope, John Paul II will be beatified tomorrow in Rome and again the whole world will be watching. Canonization usually has a five-year waiting period but for Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI waived this waiting period.

And in Marakkech, Morocco, a deadly cafe bombing killed nineteen people, seventeen of which are tourists. Sad news indeed for this North African Islamic country that has avoided trouble with terrorism.

In America, tornadoes and hurricanes come and go leaving behind destructions, debris and lives lost.

Here in the Philippines, volcanoes are showing some activities but I do hope these Earth-holes do not spew magma's and ashes that will ruin livestock and peoples lives.

World news these days.

Typhoon Basyang 2010

By now much of the Central and Southern Luzon has gone back to normal operation with their electricity and water supply running perfectly (hopefully!). Typhoon Basyang (international name: Conson) tricked most of us into believing that it is headed towards north of Luzon but instead hit directly central and southern Luzon which is where the National Capital Region (City Of Mandaluyong, City Of Manila, City Of Marikina, City Of Pasig, Kalookan City, Las Pinas City, Makati City, Malabon City, Muntinlupa City, Navotas, Paranaque City, Pasay City, Pateros, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig City and Valenzuela City) and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces).

The big boys of  media were quick to look into the anger angle of P.Noy to PAGASA's fearless, palpak forecast though. I can't really blame my employees (Yes I pay my taxes on top of VAT!!!) from the weather bureau when all my waking life they've been asking for a technological improvement. The last time I visited the office, they were still in the dark ages. They even have to share an official website with DOST so what can we expect?

Anyways, I checked the National Disaster Coordinating Council online and I found a very informative collection of the Situation Reports about Typhoon Basyang as it happen: Report No. 10 and Report No. 9 . For more on the updates, visit NDCC Typhoon Basyang Situation Report.

Bayanihan Online has a Storm Watch: Basyang wherein they compiled tweets and retweets about the typhoon. Nice work there!

Our Nation survived this one for the Nth time but I tell you, everyone's raving about the "strong winds" they felt the night of July 14 in the (dis)comforts of their own homes. No electricity, no water supply and that meant no Facebook and no nothing!

Humanity is an endangered species indeed!
