Safety during Earthquakes

Please watch this video, it may save your life:

Be safe, pray and keep calm! Attached is my Scribd document coming from the NDRRMC Update:

NDRRMC Update Re Earthquake and Tsunami

RP Sweeps Round 3

Another won match for the Philippine Men's chess team in the third round of the 40th Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey.  With a higher average-rating points, the heavily-favored Philippine team scored all the points against the Kazahkstan team pushing us further up the win-loss standings.

With this win, GM Wesley So and his teammates will be facing defending two-time olympiad champions Armenia with super-GM Levon Aronian on board 1.

Now the real games begin.

Will it be a romantic, blue-moon evening for the Philippine team or will it be a sad, earth shattering defeat for them?

As I write this piece, I think about the people in the southern part of the Philippines, Samar and nearby provinces. Let's hope and pray for the safety of our brothers and sisters. Tsunami Warning Level 3 was raised after a 7.9 earthquake jolted Samar and other neighboring towns.

Be safe!

Earth Day 2012

Today is Earth Day and everyone thinks going green is the best way to solve environmental problems plaguing our Mother Earth.  Environmental activists all around the world have tried in vain to help in preventing further damage to our only home which has suffered greatly since the dawn of industrialization.

I say "unless greed, abuse of power and selfishness is not addressed among the world's elite, our environment will never recover from further destruction".

The year 2012 is critical for all humans. Will we be seeing the end of times to see the new Era of Peace for Mankind? I repeat, it is the end of times that we are to look into and not the end of the world. It is the end of sinning for mankind and the reign of peace that we are looking forward to seeing.

Will our race be ready for the challenges ahead?

I guess these activists are screaming to their hearts discontent and yet missing the point. Greed, abuse of power and selfishness have led humanity to where we are now. We are now in a new dimension where the fight between good and evil is obvious.

Which side will you be in? It's your choice.

Operation Endgame

I was searching for an Endgame video to post here but was surprised to find this video. Conspiracy theory that reflects the mayhem happening all over the world. Unrest in the European continent, economic meltdown and disasters that's man-made and natural.

Is there an elite, secret society aiming to wipe-out eighty percent of the human population? Scary thoughts to think about!

World News These Days

Kate Middleton found her prince and the whole world watched the Royal Wedding of the Century yesterday. The British Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton paid tribute to Princes Diana's life and memory. The engagement ring he gave his then girlfriend was his mom's engagement ring. The historic church of Westminster Abbey was the same church where the groom's parents took their oath as husband and wife. It is also the same church where Prince William walked quietly behind Princes Diana in a coffin.

More about this here. Tiring it is to type such names with title as prince and princes, not to mention baroness, baron and duke.

The Philippines' beloved Pope, John Paul II will be beatified tomorrow in Rome and again the whole world will be watching. Canonization usually has a five-year waiting period but for Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI waived this waiting period.

And in Marakkech, Morocco, a deadly cafe bombing killed nineteen people, seventeen of which are tourists. Sad news indeed for this North African Islamic country that has avoided trouble with terrorism.

In America, tornadoes and hurricanes come and go leaving behind destructions, debris and lives lost.

Here in the Philippines, volcanoes are showing some activities but I do hope these Earth-holes do not spew magma's and ashes that will ruin livestock and peoples lives.

World news these days.

Technical Primer on Climate Change in the Philippines

This is another post that has a lot to do with what is really happening all around the globe and in the Philippines.Climate changehas caused so much problems that really affect all the layers and classes of the 21st century society.

Excluding the conspiracy theory going around about HAARP, Climate Change can only be addressed with the right knowledge:

Start of a New World: Global Destruction

The list is piling up. Haiti, New Zealand and recently Japan. These nations were all hit by earthquakes and suffered the devastation it brought to the people and economy. The Philippines have had its share too with earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, typhoons and Tsunamis.

To make matters worse, Middle Eastern countries and those from North Africa specifically Libya and Lebanon are fighting. People are dying from all sorts of diseases and natural calamities.

Social unrest and moral decay are seen. Internet, video games and Hollywood lifestyle are the surest way to hell.

It has been written a long, long time ago. It had happened too in the time of Noah when God cleansed the world with the Deluge.

From what I've heard, this time, our generation will end with fire, not with water. Planet Earth will have to go on a restart mode and the countdown to global destruction has began fifty years ago.

Watch this video and please pray for everyone's safety:

Bicol Hit by Earthquake and Bulusan Spews Ash

Let's pray for our brothers and sisters in Bicol as they were hit by a magnitude 6 earthquake early this morning, Saturday. As if the forces of nature didn't have enough, Bulusan Volcano ejected "steam and ash" that reached an approximate height of 600 meters at 8:11 a.m.

Bulusan volcano is located in the province of Sorsogon in the Bicol region.

The ash explosion happened hours after the Phivolcs recorded a magnitude 6.0 earthquake at 12:41 a.m.

Bulusan Volcano Bulletin says:

This is a notice for the raising of the alert level status of Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon Province.
At 8:11 A.M., Bulusan Volcano (12°46.2’ 124°03’) ejected a light grayish steam and ash column that reached an approximate height of 600 meters above the crater rim. The ash ejection was reflected as an explosion type earthquake with a duration of 57 seconds. Seismic records before the event showed four (4) volcanic earthquakes. Field investigation by PHIVOLCS volcanologists disclosed that areas 6-10 km NW of the crater were affected by traces of ash. These are Brgys. Rangas, Aniog, Cogon and Juban Proper, (Juban Municipality), Casiguran Proper and San Antonio (Casiguran Municipality).

In view of the above activity, PHIVOLCS is now raising the Alert Level status of Bulusan Volcano from Alert level 0 to Alert Level I (abnormal). This current activity may indicate hydrothermal disturbance underneath the volcano which may lead to more steam and ash ejections. In view of this, the public is strictly prohibited to enter the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone. People residing near the valleys and streams should be on extra alert against sediment-laden stream flows in the event of heavy rains.

Earthquake Chronicles: Mindanao Earthquake 2010

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Mindanao early Saturday morning that's deep enough not to cause any damage or injuries. This was followed by major aftershocks which registered at 7.3 magnitude. Imagine sighing a breathe of relief only to be shaken by much stronger shakes first thing when you get up?

So far it's been a monthly jolt-strike-anywhere for our Earthquake Chronicles and we are thankful that this one did not cause any damage or fatalities.

Details of the earthquake can be found at USGS Magnitude 7.3 Moro Gulf, Mindanao.

The Brown Man's New Look

I found a new design for the first time here at The Brown Man Diary and I love it. I ma having second thought on re-posting the videos from my previous posts since they were set on the previous template settings but this would mean time and more time to undo everything.

Since I have scored 2 consultancy gigs for special education here in Cavite, plus my numerous tutorials around Paranaque, speaking engagements centering on educating the special needs, the developing mind and parenting issues. Not to mention my writing gigs here and there and of course my newly found sweat-out-work-out, touch football!

So what have I been up to lately?

I went back back to guitar playing for Sunday's Holy Eucharistic celebration at the Miraculous Medal Chapel of Southern City, Imus Cavite.

Another earthquake and this time it happened to our neighboring country on the north, Japan. Addition to our Earhtquake Chronicles again and not to mention the Guatemala Sinkhole which conspiracy theorists have a lot of opinions of.

Anyways, I love our new look!

P.S.

I think all posts I have made with Chess Viewer De Luxe were corrupted, I'll have to email the people behind this template and the viewer.

Earthquake in Peru 2010

Earthquake chronicles of our blog got one again and it's happening on a monthly basis. If you click on my blog label "earthquakes" you'll find out that earthquakes all around the world is happening on a monthly basis and it strikes anywhere.

USGS Peru Earthquake and Chicago Sun Times provide us some details of the quake. No deaths and damages have been reported and that's great news!

Below is a video that's a source of speculation among the conspiracy theorists:

Well I need to go now, my fever is shooting up and my headache is just too much!

Taiwan Earthquake April Edition

Another entry for our Earthquake Chronicles with the news about Taiwan's earthquake which struck at around 10:59 in the morning. Here's the headline news from Reuters:

"A 6.9 magnitude quake struck in an ocean area north of the Philippines on Monday and was felt throughout Taiwan, officials said, but there were no immediate reports of damage and no mass tsunami warnings."
At 6.9 magnitude, no reports of injuries, death or collapsed buildings but a tsunami warning caused confusion among the authorities.

Good news is that everyone's safe!

Earthquake in China 2010

Another post for our earthquake chronicles and this time it's China Earthquake 2010.

Earthquake Engineering Research Institute is providing us the necessary information on the movement of the floor we're walking on, thanks. We all know that information is a powerful tool we all can use and we need to take advantage of this. There are lots of sites we can go to and they are there waiting for us, to read up on what they can tell us about earthquakes... please read them.

This 2010 Yushu Earthquake killed an estimate of 400 people and injured at least 10,000 more. With MSNBC calling this area as the Roof of the World, about 250,000 people populate this area and is mainly inhabited by Tibetans.

Let us all pray for the recovery of missing family members who are victims of this earthquake.

Earthquakes: Here, There and Everywhere

As much as possible, I try my best to chronicle the earthquakes that has been happening worldwide since January this year. So far the activity of our tectonic plates have been restless and hyper-active. The people Haiti, Chile, Taiwan, recently California and Indonesia suffered tremendous loss because of the strong quakes.

Earthquakes strike and we are left to wonder when the big one will hit. The Philippines experience tremors every now and then and I really want to make sure that my household knows what to do when it happens. Basic common sense thinking will probably save lives more than anything else. I hope the government is ready if it happens.

Tomorrow, I will be going with grades 2 to 4 classes to visit Philippine Volcanology and Seismology and Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Offices in Quezon City. Expected time of arrival is at eight in the morning and we hope to be back in school by 2 in the afternoon. Safety for everyone that's my prayer and of course much, much to learn too!

We will find out tomorrow what's in store for us aside from the usual long sitting in an enclosed moving vehicle. Good night!

Earthquake Hits Manila

An earthquake struck around 1:29 and was felt around Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. Yahoo Philippines was among the first to report:
"In a bulletin issued by the Phivolcs, the quake measuring magnitude 6.0 on the Richter scale, struck at 27 kilometers southwest of Lubang Island in Mindoro province at 1:29 p.m.

The Phivolcs said the quake's depth was shallow at 25 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

The quake was felt the strongest at Intensity 5 in the following: - Looc, Lubang Island - Manila

Intensity 4 was felt in: - Quezon City - Mandaluyong City - Makati City - Pasay City - Taguig City - Pasig City - Talisay town in Batangas province,

It was Intensity 3 in: - Bagac town in Batangas province - Canlubang in Laguna - Clark in Pampanga - Rosario and Trece Martires in Cavite province - Marikina City - Tagaytay City

It was Intensity 2 in - Calamba town in Laguna province - Legaspi City in Albay - Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro"
I wouldn't want to think about this but let this be a warning for everyone: Holy Week is right around the corner. Non-practicing Catholics and non-believers would flock to the beaches instead of doing their seasonal holy obligations. Watch out for earthquakes and tsunamis!

Be safe and be holy!

Tuguegarao Shakes with 6.1 Magnitude

I've been posting here about earthquakes more than about anything and this time, it hits home. I learned about yesterday's 6.1 quake only now and it happened in Tuguegarao during our almost exiting president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The report said Mrs. Arroyo had to stop her speech and wait for the shakes to stop. Most of the northern Luzon felt the quake but with different intensities. Here is the full story.

Since my main goal here is to inform, let me direct you to some links that would further our understanding of this phenomenon: Factbox: Earthquakes and Magnitude. And while your at it, let me tell you that NDCC will hold a nationwide earthquake drill.

Chilling Quake in Chile

Having spent most of my today in front of my PC playing online chess at Chess.Com and FICS , I was surprised and saddened to find out about the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Chile. While I was fussing about my daily dose of fatherhood, halfway around the globe people are running to save their lives.

After Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng late last year in our country, we were greeted by the Haiti Earthquake on January 12, 2010 which affected an estimated three million people. The numbers will scare and push you to say your prayers and vow to never commit any acts against the Laws of God:

"As of Feb. 12, an estimated three million people were affected by the quake;[7] the Haitian Government reports that between 217,000 and 230,000 people had been identified as dead, an estimated 300,000 injured, and an estimated 1,000,000 homeless. The death toll is expected to rise.[8][9] They also estimated that 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings had collapsed or were severely damaged.[10]"
I don't know if America's Hollywood can make another We are the World Version 3, this time for Chile but I'm very sure people will find a way to help alleviate the suffering of our fellow residents of this planet.

Going back to the recent earthquake in Chile, here is the link from Wikipedia's entry about the disaster: 2010 Chile Earthquake.

Remember our posts here about earthquakes especially the one I called Earthquakes Worldwide? So far we have had 2 major earthquakes on  two different but very near continents. Here in the Philippines, we have had minor but cause of concern earthquakes. In fact there was a week some months ago when newsflashes would tell us about these.

North America and South American Continents got the jolts in less than two months.

Wikipedia has the List of 21st century earthquakes dates include 2001 to 2010, a decade of worst natural disasters.

No photos have been sent out due to the interruption of electricity and other major services. Seismologist says Tsunamis were produced as high as 3 feet and buildings were in flattened out.  Before we all go to sleep, let us all offer a simple prayer for the safety of the people of Chile.
