A letter from one of our readers

Hi there once again!

I received a letter from one of our readers. The sender did not write his/her name and used only an email ad to be identified. I would like to assure everyone, including the letter sender, that PCC is open to to receive and post all chess announcements and activities. This is one of the main reason why PCC was put up! Curiously, I was adressed to as "MANG KIKO" which in Philippine (Tagalog) language connotes seniority in age. Somehow I felt so old suddenly... hehehehehe!

SO here it is...

Hello Mang Kiko,

I can't seem to find a topic where I can properly introduce our small chess club to you, so please excuse me for using this topic; being the latest topic, it will surely catch your attention.

We have a very small chess club in our company and we name it MERALCO Chess Club, which is based on our company's HQ in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

The officers of the club are Manny Benitez, Jr (the son of Mang Manny of QC Chess Plaza), Darryl Mata, Romy Aguilar, Lilet Bersamina & Rolly Sol Cruz.

Pero kahit maraming empleyado ang MERALCO, konti din lang naman ang mahilig sa chess; around 12 are active in our one-night matches.

However, we hold a chess clinic for children of our co-employees and our top stude is Paulo Bersamina. We have around 15 students in our fold training every other Saturday for about 8 months now.

We also have NM Gerry Cabellon who trains us with simul matches every once in a while.

We hope we can teach more to our students by joining the chess activities posted here.

Campo at 80!

Hi there!

February 22, 2007. The 80th birthday of The Grand Old Man of Philippine Chess and former FIDE President Florencio Campomanes. He is recovering from a very serious car accident which happened last February 2 in Antalya, Turkey after a FIDE Presidential Board Meeting.

Here at PCC, I would like to send my greetings of good health and more chess games! Enjoy!

For a detailed story and update, please Look back at CAMPO's Years!

Winning against Dennis!

Hi there!

Last Sunday afternoon, I played against a long time neighbor of 13 years and chessmate of 3 years.

I guess I'd like to give you a backgrounder on this. In December 2003, I got a hold of The BANG's Inside Philippine Chess which started D' Addiction! Because of this, I thirst for chess games and where else to look for games and chessmates but in the hood! I've always known Dennis to love the game of chess so, when we have time and oppurtunity, we set up the chess board and play in our village basketball court's stage. While most of our friends-neighbors sweat it out on the basketball court, Dennis and I and the rest of The Members of Chess Addiction Club are on the side playing chess.

Yes, last Sunday was no different. We were playing and the score is no different either, I almost always lose when it's time to know our head-to-head Win-Lose count. Usually we play the minimum of ten(10) games and yes, I can only win 3-4 games against him.

I would like to share this position below where I snatched a win against him for our last game last sunday. He resigned after several moves (11 to be exact). I chose this position because first, I haven't won against him that afternoon and second, I guess my Knight move was somewhat taken lightly by him and third, I was on the verge of a checkmate (my King was alone in the corner).

Here it is:

1... Nxd4 2.exNd4 Rc8 3.Nc3 Qf1+ 4.Kd2 Qf2+ 5.Kd3 BxBf5+
6.gxBf5 QxBf5+ 7. Nf6e4 g5-g4 8.Qh2+ Kg7 9.Qg2 Kg6
10.Nd1 Rc1 11.Ne3 QB5+ 12. Resigns 0-1

If you have variations, please feel free to post thru PCC's comment section.

3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational (Part 2)

Hi!

To day, I am sharing the photos we have from the first 3 rounds (or first day) of the 3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational but first, let me tell you a lot of good things that we had in Xavier that day(not in any specific order):

1. Xavier School provided the players a good playing hall... well-ventilated (AC) well-lighted hall that goes by the name Fr. Cortina Sports Center;

2. The tournament organizer, Mr. John Sy, who happens to be a Math teacher for Xavier too, well, lived up to his title... ORGANIZED the event perfectly;

3. This one will make those PROS drool to death.... For the first time in Philippine Chess history, a tournament started RIGHT ON SCHEDULED TIME! As what Sir John said to us coaches;

4. My students were so amazed at the facilities they saw in Xavier. Name me a sports and I'll tell you Xavier has the necessary playing court/area for it. Basketball? yes Xavier has it, not 4 but PLENTY basketball courts. Soccer field? Yes, two soccer fields I guess. Any other sports in mind? swimming? Yes! I didn't see it but I was told by my colleague who happens to be our swimming coach that they do have and Xavier's Swimming coach is his friend from high school. Extreme Sports? Yes! They have a room for Rock Climbing! Photography room, Carpentry room and all those facilities meant to follow the adage "Sound Mind and a Sound Body"! Shawn, one of my players, as we were walking towards the high school canteen blurted out in amazement "Mr. Francis, I think this is bigger than the Mall of Asia!"

5. I got to meet the Chess People who quietly works in the Philippine Chess scenc either as a chess coach, arbiter, trainer. I met International Arbiter Rolly Yutuc, who the BANG can only give good words about his chess coaching for Kids Approach. I also met there Xavier's (and UP Prep School) chess coach, National Master Erwin Carag. Also that day, I got to consult, and of course converse (almost the whole day!) one of the most successful scholastic chess coach in the Philippines, the low key, Mr. Expedito Bolico of La Immaculada Concepcion School (LICS). He was so accomodating enough to have shown me one Key Endgame Concept that I can teach my students. Of course it's top secret and I can't tell you what it was. There was also the coach of International School Manila which his name I forgot to ask, on saturday I'll make sure I do get his name.

6. About the win lose report... I guess for the Grade School Division it will be a battle for 2nd and 3rd place since the LICS are surely to win the Gold. For the Secondary or High School Division, I will need to check it out on saturday.

By the way, the schools which participated for the 3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational are:

1. International School Manila
2. La Immaculada Concepcion School
3. Mahatma Gandhi International School
4. Xavier School

There were four schools all in all. So here now are some of the photos:

LICS and MGIS before the battle!

Coach "X" Bolico of LICS and Me.

Let the games begin!

In between the rounds:

Truly, our very first chess tournament outside of the school was an experience. We are looking forward on saturday's last 3 rounds.

Watch out for the results at PCC!

Student Chess Club of PSBA Quezon City

Hi guys!

Last saturday, February 17, 2006, after the first day, of the 3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational, I went straight to St. Francis Square where the Metropolitan Chess Club hold their Chess lessons. I wanted to meet Tristan Dandan, my first ever chess student and try to hang around while looking for possible pick up games.

Tristan was not there yet when I arrived and found out too that there was a tournament going on. As I scan the scene, I saw a print ad, a black and white poster, that says "Student Chess Club of Philippine School of Business Administration of Quezon City". I immediately copied the contact numbers of the organizers because I wanted to ask for a soft copy of the advertisement.

Today, I received the announcement and so I am posting it now. If you, or someone you know is interested to join their first ever tournament, here's the details:

3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational

Hi there!

The 3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational is set for February 17 and 24, 2007, saturday. There will be two divisions, grade school and secondary level.

The Mahatma Gandhi International School Chess Club (MGIS Chess Club) was invited by Xavier's Chess Coach, Mr. John Sy (SCUgrad of NCFP Forum). Confirmed to join are the following schools:

1. International School Manila (ISM)
2. Ateneo de Manila University (AMU)
3. De la Salle (not sure which branch but I have a feeling they would be from the Greenhills school, coached by IM Chito Garma)
4. Fountain of Life International School

And of course, the very new, very excited MGIS Chess Club players from grades 2-5. Unfortunately, my students from the Middle Years Program (Grade 6-10) will have their yearly 3-day camp by February 21-23 in Mindoro.

It took 3 weeks for the MYP students to accept my decision not to field them on the said event because I didn't want them playing on the 24th tired from their camp trip.

All in all, the grade school kids are raring to experience their first ever, outside of MGIS chess tournament. These kids are very much into after school activities. In fact, all of them are members of the following clubs in school:

1. Swimming
2. Soccer
3. Chess
4. Strumms (guitar club)

These clubs are scheduled once a week and chess falls on a monday. They are to attend each activities regularly or they lose their slots. Imagine how tiring it can be? Not to mention the fact that they have to attend (priority) to their classes everyday.

I have reminded them that to excel in anything one takes on, one must focus their energy and effort on that particular project, or else, failure will be the result of the endeavor.

So, to all the participants of the 3rd Xavier Interscholastic Chess Invitational, have fun, give your best... above all, enjoy the friendship among your team and the other school's team.

Who is Leonardo Sotaridona?

Hi there!

Since early last year (2006), I have registered one of my emails (solely for chess stuff) in all yahoo groups I can find on the net dealing with chess. Some groups proliferating the cyberspace are annoying with all the spams and for sale messages. But some are so helpful to one's chess addiction. "Brian Wall Chesslist" is one of the sender I wait for on a daily basis. For one, they do not send out spam and secondly, the group owner, I bet his name is Brian Wall, is generous enough to share and send his analysis of games he notates.

Surprisingly today, I got this email from the group with a fellow Filipino on it. Leonardo Sotaridona! An ELO rating of 1800, it says there, from the Philippines. A member of Denver Chess Club. More details about him can be seen on the games heading.

Let's read (and play through) Brian Wall's game against him.

Round 2
Board 1

When Grandmaster Roman Dzindzichashvili was in Denver a few years ago I watched
him play thousands of blitz games. He liked the Grand Prix Attack
versus the Sicilian. He liked to block the c8-bishop out of play - he would even
laugh and point at it.

That's all I had to remember to beat Leo tonight. I just locked his ...
c8-bishop out of the game and the rest played itself. Where can he improve ? -
I don't know - it all seemed so easy.

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 e6 4. Bxc6 bxc6 5. c4

I played this because on ICC blitz games Black always annoys me by playing
... c4 himself and freeing his bishop. I didn't mind 5 c4 d5 6 d3 de
7 de Q:d1+ 8 Kd1 - It seemed I would have a comfortable position after
Kc2, Re1, b3, Ba3, Nc3-a4 in some move order.

5 ... d6 6. e5

I want to keep Leo's pawn on e6 to keep his Queenbishop
dead or at least make him pay some price to move it.

6 ... d5 7. d3

Again I didn't mind a Queen trade.

7 ... h5 8. O-O Nh6 9. Nc3 Nf5 10. b3 Be7
11. Ba3 Qa5 12. Na4 dxc4 13. dxc4 g5 14. Qd2

Black's busted - all standard stuff - dead Queenbishop plus
dead ... c5-pawn. Almost looks like a Nimzoindian.

14 ... Qc7 15. Qc3

Now ... g4 will just drive my f3-knight to d2 and e4.

15 ... Nd4 16. Rae1

I figured f4 was in my future when my rooks will be well-placed.
Besides structural defects Leo also suffers from poor development.
I know it's not true but his game has looked lost since 4 ... bc.

16 ... g4 17. Nd2 f6 18. f4

Consistently keep a lock on e5 and activating my rooks.

18 ... gxf3 19. Nxf3 Nxf3+ 20. Rxf3 f5 21. Bxc5 Bh4

Leo had 7 minutes to my 30 -
my moves were easy to find,
he had tough decisions to make.

22. Rd1 Bb7 23. Rd6

My plan was to see if 23 Rd6 Kf7 24 Qd3 Rad8 25 R:f5+ worked.
It looked good.

23 ... Rh6 24. Rxf5

Seemed better than 24 Qd2 Rg6 25 R:f5

24 ... Be7 25. Qg3

Played instantly with the idea of checkmating after
25 Qg3 B:d6 26 Qg8+

25 ... exf5

Leo was down to 2 minutes.
I started seeing multiple wins but wanted to
stay consistent by punishing his Queenbishop
with controlled play.

26. Rxh6

I spent 6 minutes trying to see if
26 Qg8+ first was better.

26 ... O-O-O 27. Bd6

27 B:a7 or 25 B:e7 and were tempting.

27 ...Qa5

Setting up 27 ... Qa5 28 B:e7 Rd1+ 29 Kf2 Qe1+

28. h3 Qd2 29. Bxe7 Qc1+ 30. Kh2 Qxh6 31. Bxd8 Kxd8 32.Nc5 h4

My plan was 32 Nc5 Bc8 33 e6 B:e6 34 Qd6+
but with 13 seconds left Leo is floundering.

33. Qd3+ Ke7

I have many wins now like 34 Qd6+
but I found one I liked better.

34. Qd7+ Kf8 35. Qxf5+

If nothing else I can just play
Knight takes Bishop next so ....

1-0 Black Resigns

You should play over the game just to see
how to exploit a trapped bishop in the
Sicilian. I felt like an Armenian,
all positional play with minimal tactics.

Valentine's Day

Hi there!

Today, the whole world is celebrating the hearts day and here at PCC, I'd like to share to you a little of what I've read about the celebration... not to mention that we can say "MAHAL KITA" in so many languages.

So who is St. Valentine?

Every February we celebrate Valentine's Day by giving flowers, candy and cards to those we love. We do this in honor of St. Valentine.

Legend has it that Valentine was a priest who served during the 3rd century Rome. There was an Emperor at that time by the name Claudius II. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those who were married. With this thought in mind he outlawed marriage for young men in the hope of building a stronger military base. Supposedly, Valentine, decided this decree just wasn't fair and chose to marry young couples secretly. When Emperor Claudius II found out about Valentine's actions he had put him to death.

Another legend has it that Valentine was an imprisoned man who fell in love with his jailor's daughter. Before he was put to death he sent the first "valentine" himself when he wrote he a letter and singed it "Your Valentine," words still used on cards today.

Perhaps we'll never knwo the true identity and story behind the man named St. Valentine, but this much is for sure... February has been the month to celebrate love for a long time, dating clear back to the Middle Ages. In fact, Valentine's ranks second only Christmas in number of greeting cards sent.

Another Valentine gentleman you may be wondering about is Cupid (Latin: cupido, "desire"). In Roman mythology Cupid is the son of Venus, goddess of love. his counterpart in Greek mythology is Eros, god of love. Cupid is often said to be a mischievous boy who goes around wounding both gods and humans with his arrows, causing them to fall in love.

Ancient Romans honored the goddess Juno on February 14th. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage.

A night with the masters!

Hi! I’d like to share part of the dine-out chat I had with the masters….Am posting this 2 weeks after so I guess some of it are out of date now or irrelevant, but I simply would like to let you in on some of the players thoughts regarding their situation…

January 31, 2007. Tomas Morato Avenue Quezon City, Philippines.

In one of the fine dining establishments we have along Morato, historical one at that for it was D' PLACE where I first met the BANG in flesh late December of 2006. The meeting was set at 730 in the evening. Agenda: meet new friends in chess, have fun, share chess culture, enjoy the food and unconsciously learn from the masters the unpublished, unwritten, word-of-mouth factual events from local and global events of the Royal game.

My arrival time? 745. 15 minutes late.

Waiting was the nights' host (generosity is a virtue! hehehe!!!) the BANG who told me soon as I seated that "Kiko I forgot the "training books" you want to borrow but you can pick it up by tomorrow". What can a disciple say or do when the master tells you something like that? Instinctively I felt that he shouldn't be apologetic for I, in the first place who's asking a favor.

Then the shoot.

Questions fired from my side. The BANG, eveready to share his thoughts, knowledge and expertise but eternally honest if he's not sure of his replies. Chess issues from the past, recent past and the not so distant past. Afterwards, we headed to the present issues and then to the possible, future issues (hahahah! pun intended!).

And this brings us to the present issues of chess, more so, Philippine Chess.

Game fixing? networking? scam?

NCFP officer having this personal grudge against one of the suspected GM candidate player, from a list of ten, down to 8 then now 6? Curiously, the media snubs such issues except for one contributor of articles of confusion (re: I followed the story, first time it went out of the news, it says IM Garma was willing to testify, next time I read it, Garma never said he will testify....will not, never testify!) talk about journalistic ethical know-how.

800PM on my mobile phone... The Pride of Philippine Chess, Darwin Laylo and Ronald Dableo arriving.

On my left sat Darwin and across the table sat Ronald. After exchanging pleasantries, time for food... food and drinks. Nothing intoxicating hehehehe!

Geeh! Do I deserve such honor? Honor to be with these Chess Mighties? Yet I don't feel any snobbish attitude from them?... I guess that's where their greatness is...

Philippine Chess Chronicles (PCC):
"Kamusta ba tayo jan?"

Darwin Laylo (DL):
"Heto ok naman po!"

Ronald Dableo (RD):
"Sobra na tong' mga nangyayari, yung inaanak kong 5 years old, kapit-bahay ko, nakita ako nung isang gabi, sabi sa kin, ninong, nagbebenta ka daw ng game?" "Yung mother ko, diabetic, di na makatulog dahil sa mga lumalabas na balita" "Yung isang opisyal ng NCFP, merong patakbuhing dyaryo, tawagin ba naman akong traydor sa bayan"

PCC:
"Ahhhmm, noong unang lumabas ang mga ito sa dyaryo, it was sometime after the Pichay Cup which was held at SM Manila... in fact, sa NCFP Forum, I could remember, may mga nagpost dun statements like this: game-fixing can be felt in the air... or something to that effect. Naglaro din kayo dun di ba?"

DL :
"Naglaro kami dun pero walang katotohanan yan"

RD :
"Maaamoy sa ere? game fixing? kahit kelan di ako nagbenta ng laro, di ko kailangan, chess is my profession. I have a coaching job in one of the universities in Manila, I have a PSC monthly allowance and of course am from the Philippine Air Force"

Bobby Ang (BANG):
"Imagine that! Anong amoy? may amoy ang game-fixing?"

Hahahah! It was during these light moments when we can actually think deeper of these kind of issues at hand.

PCC:
"But can anybody or someone, truly prove such accusations?"

RD:
"Eh ang sabi nila sa dyaryo scoresheets..."

DL:
"Eh kung ganun wala nang mag submit ng scoresheets dahil pwede palang gamitin alaban sa amin iyon..."

BANG:
"Kiko, you see, only if one player testify against another player we can prove that there was indeed a game fixing involved" "What can the scoresheets tell? What about blunders? Only when another player, testify against a player can we prove such accusations"

RD: "

PCC:
“Sa mga dailies, in recent weeks, halos lahat or almost all news about chess is this issue, do you think this can have a bad effect to NCFP’s program? Or do you think this will again put Philippine Chess on hold?

BANG:
“You know what? Nobody in the media is really giving much attention to this except one contributor who does not, in anyway, qualify to be called a journalist.”

RD:
“Ewan ko nga bakit pinapayagan ng *** (name of newspaper) na i-publish ang mga contribution nyan eh… ang masakit pa nun, baseless naman"

DL:
“walang natanggap sa amin yan ni singkong duling kaya ganyan yan sa amin…”

PCC
: “ Ah ok. I think I know who we are talking about here…"

BANG:
“Ronald and Darwin, may experience yan si kiko jan sa tao na yan…go tell them kiko”

PCC:
“Well, I’ve posted the story at PCC sometime during the GMA Cup… sadly, hindi lang pala ako ang biktima nun… in fact the BANG himself gave him a nice newspaper beating on the nape to teach him a lesson about respect and appropriate behavior” “Also, he sends out solicitation letter using the BANG’s name… geeh! Money making schemes”

I guess the night is getting more interesting as we continue to feast on the food served on our table. It’s time to be a little more direct…

PCC:
“But really, tell me, do you see the end coming? Issues?"

DL:
“Sir kasi naman tinanggal na kami sa list ng 8 suspects, 6 na lang ngayon…”

RD:
“Sa tingin ko talagang the decision will depend sa Board of Directors…”

PCC:
“But I myself would be devastated if I find out that these things are happening simply because of personal quarrels between you guys, the personalities of Philippine Chess"

RD:
“ Bukas nga, February 1, may trial daw sa Marios’ Morato…I just received a text now…pinapapunta ako…”

PCC:
“Well, if it’s a trial, you should have received a formal invitation…”

BANG:
“Right!”

DL:
“Kahit di na ko kasama sa walo, sasamahan ko pa rin yan si Ronald”

PCC:
“Sadly, since you were informed thru text about the trial, you are at the losing end. If you attend, you’ll be grilled… do you have a lawyer? If you don’t attend, I could imagine the chess headlines, suspected chess player, non-appearance for the trial.”

RD:
“Ayun na nga eh!”

PCC:
“This maybe a bit far from the hot issue at hand, but tell me, how’s it going in your quest for the GM title?”

DL:
“Dalawa na GM norm ko sir, isa na lang… isa na lang nagyayari pa itong mga ganito… konti na lang…”

RD:
“Pareho lang ni Darwin. 2 GM norms na. Tapos nagkakaganito pa… Isa na lang GM na, pinipigilan pa ng mga ganitong issues.”

PCC:
“Hay! Well, Let me tell you this: it is inevitable, the young will replace the old but before that happens, for sure the old guards will try to hold on to what they have, can have for as long as they can. But still, the young ones will take the lead, and this they will have to give in to...”

Back to the present.

It’s the second week of February now. So far, no news about Philippine Chess except for that CJAP’s (Chess Journalist Association of the Philippines) Chess Player of the Month Choice.

Hhhmmmm! I wonder what happened to our favorite chess news contributor?

BLIND ITEMS

- Who is this individual who heads the syndicate, victimizing passers-by into luring them to solve chess problems along the streets of Metro Manila?

- Who is this active Filipino player who is having difficulty with his GM norms and is now considering converting to WGM? Hmmm! I smell green blood! (berde ang dugo!)

- Who is this active Filipino player who is very loud in condemning "networking" and "game-fixing" but who himself paid 250 Euros to win his last game in a tournament in Germany last year?

Campomanes in car accident!

Hi there! Chessbase news says:

"The long-time president (1982-1995) and current honorary president of FIDE, Florencio Campomanes, was badly injured in a car accident on his way to the airport after the FIDE Presidential Board meeting in Antalya, Turkey. After a 7½ hour operation Campomanes was said to be in stable condition."

It was a shocking news for me because lately, I've been wondering and finding out ways to reach him for an interview here at PCC. It was a simple chess news keyword search, came chessbase news and I clicked... there I saw in their headlines...

Details from chessbase says he had undergone a 7 1/2 hours operation and is now in a stable condition. He was said to be sitting at the backseat of the car, not wearing any seatbelt. It was said that Campo, the present Honorary FIDE president, was thrown out of the vehicle after "the car breaked sharply when an animal, probably a hare, jumped out of the bushes and onto the streets"

Doctors say he is out of danger now but still lay unconscious. On february 22, Campo is turning 80 and this, the doctors fear might cause complications due to advanced age.

TCF President Ali Yazici

I'm impressed with President Ali Yacizi's achievements for his country's chess federation. With all the on-going chess programs, scholastic, local and international events, plus Turkish Chess Federations endless aim for perfection within the organization, I guess they will be able to achieve more goals than they have expected.

We can learn a lot from them. As a Special education Teacher Specialist, who happens to sponsor an After School Activity for Chess, I guess the keyword for success in my Chess Club is DELEGATION. As what the TCF President says. He, in fact, attest and attribute their Federation's success to TEAMWORK. Here's what he has to say:

"I am only in the Honorary Committee and credit my team for their good work. You must delegate. I have good people and we have high standards. For example here in the Turkish Youth Championship, we do not allow mistakes in the results which we post immediately on our web site. We have daily printed bulletins of all games.

We have 90 workers here including 12 bulletin staff, 8 for the live broadcast, 6 for the website, 2 TV newscast team, 10 transport/airport, ten equipment staff, 40 arbiters plus Appeals Committee and Training Committee headed by GM Andrei Mikhailchisin and 5 masters.

We call this training committee the Infrastructure Development Group. They are responsible for our pool of top players. We have 114 in the pool from age groups under-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. They undergo continuous training. We give them scholarships, assign trainers and cover all their expenses for the finals scheduled in June during school holidays.

The winners of each age group have the choice to go to either the European or World Youth championships. Usually their first choice is the European Youth championship because it comes first. The runner-up represents Turkey in the second event.

We pay all their expenses and give pocket money. If they win gold, the government gives a bonus of around €5,000 depending on the age group.

The Turkish Chess Federation made it our obligation to send all title holders under-18 to either the European or World Youth championships."

Institutionalize Chess Education in the Philippines

Chess education, Scholastic chess, Chess in the schools... so many names, so many terms... yet nothing of anything of these programs are Legally backed up in the Philippines.

To have this "One Program" sytematized and institutionalized in the Philippines is what the La Sallian brother Rolando Dizon,FSC is aiming for:

"We have a rich source of talent from the grassroots. Unless we do something to institutionalize chess training we will never be able to be at par with the rest of the world... If only we can find a way for chess to be included in Physical Education subjects, I believe this will go a long way in helping us institutionalize chess development in our country"

Brother Rolly heads JRR Dizon Foundation and supports the campaign of the recently titled FM Hamed Nouri of Escalante City...
