Image via WikipediaBrowsing through National Commission for Culture and Arts webpage, I stumbled upon the fact that we Filipinos, as a nation, do not have any official national here. From the government document called Selection and Proclamation of National Heroes and Laws Honoring Filipino Historical Figures, the Executive Summary say:
"No law, executive order or proclamation has been enacted or issued officially proclaiming any Filipino historical figure as a national hero."
All of us have been fooled but I will make sure to include this trivia in every talks, workshops and seminars I'll be giving from now on.
