Congratulations to the people who made the 1st National Press Club Chess Tournament successful!
Dubbed as "Massacre in November", the two-day tournament aims to commemorate the massacre of 34 journalists that took place on November 23, 2009 in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on November and at the same time strengthening the media chess players who loves chess.
The event was organized by Attorney Toto Causing, editor-in-chief of Dyaryo Magdalo and sponsored by the National Press Club through its president Jerry S. Yap, was held November 27-28, 2010 at the Bulwagang Plaridel, National Press Club Building, Magallanes Drive, Intramuros Manila.
And the guys who worked their butts off to make sure the tournament run like a well-oiled machine were: International Arbiter and National Master Erwin Carag served as chief arbiter and assisted by Fide Master Christopher Castellano (deputy arbiter), Gatpayo Luz (deputy arbiter), Anthony Bernardino (steward) and George Ibay (steward).
