PRC Board Exam Results: Top 10 Medical Technologist September 2010

The Professional Regulation Commission has released the September 2010 Medical Technologist Engineer Board Exam Results as PRC announced that 910 out of 1,278 passed the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medical Technology in Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao on September 2010.

The members of the Board of Medical Technology who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Marietta C. Baccay, Chairman; Ms. Marilyn R. Atienza and Ms. Marian M. Tantingco, Members.


Here is the Result of PRC Medical Technologist Board Examination.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 but not later than September 20, 2010. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The oath taking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila. Deadline for the buying of tickets for the oath taking will be on September 24, 2010.

Registration for membership with the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) will start on Tuesday, September 14, 2010.

Manila Hostage Crisis: Pandora's Box Opened

If you have followed the August 23, 2010 hostage-taking crisis which ended with 9 fatalities including Rolando Mendoza, you will be surprised with all the scum that is coming out of the issue. Let me do a rundown of keywords you can easily spot on the first page of all the newspapers here in the Philippines these days:

And more to come out in the next few days. What is not given air time, publicity and emphasis by the mass media is the reason behind the hostage-taking. Ain't it juicy enough? Or is there a hand behind the scene controlling what will come out?

I could very much remember watching on TV the "loud" Kris Aquino discussing her marital issues with James Yap, how the Aquino sisters have dined out with their only brother and agreed they will take turns in attending social obligations so that PNoy can attend to more important matters. Where are they now? I have not seen or heard from any of them lately. It's unbearably quiet from the elite, rich side of the Philippine Society these days.

So Tito Noy, what are we suppose to do now? Announce and issue public statements owning up on the bloody incident?

Why not do something different like giving up your family-owned Hacienda Luisita to the poor and be an example to other businessmen who control the lives of many poor Filipinos?
 
I, them, we, everybody except the well-connected Filipinos always end up at the raw end of the deal each time we try to make our lives better.

Did you know that Rolando Mendoza was one of the policemen who seized what was to be smuggled out of the country thousands of US dollars hidden in coffins when the Marcoses left the country in 1986?

Now why would a sane and decorated cop ruin his name, career and pension benefits for Php 20,000? The man died believing an injustice was done to him by an Ombudsman, by the PNP, by the influential Filipino family, by the Philippine Society.

Tito Noy, can we really, truly believe in what you want us to believe in?

Florencio Campomanes: The Father of Global Chess

Florencio Campomanes,  22 February 1927 – 3 May 2010

On August 28, 2010, the inaugural Florencio Campomanes Memorial Cup will be staged at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Sports Complex, City of Manila. The tournament is sponsored by the the current World Chess Federation President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Florencio Campomanes' successor as FIDE President.

Also known in the chess circle as "Campo", he is best remembered as the President of the international chess organization FIDE.  He was elected to that post in 1982 and held it until 1995. During his presidency, country chess federation membership grew significantly, by about 50 member nations. Florencio Campomanes was the only Filipino ever to hold the highest position at FIDE.

The chess world is forever indebted to this man for bringing the royal game into the light and out in the open.

Eraserheads Magazines: Stories from Younger Days

I bought a copy of this when it first came out and if my memory serves me right it was in the early 90's. Life was simple, carefree and had a the license to waste away those precious time. Eraserheads were Ely Buendia, Raymond Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Zabala. They conquered the music scene in the Philippines and MTV International producing hits after hits and leaving all of us humming and singing to their songs.

The Florencio Campomanes Memorial Tournament shall change venues in succeeding years to other countries, based on activity and ability of the federation to organize well the event for best offer as decided by the Standing Committee, and support by participating in other Campomanes Memorial editions.

The Campomanes Cup shall be awarded at the closing ceremonies of the tenth edition which will be held in his home country, Philippines.

The tournament will be held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

The tournament shall be conducted as a Swiss System competition of 9 rounds and will be played according to FIDE regulations. The time control is 90 minutes for the whole game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. Draw offers below 30 moves shall not be allowed. Pairings will be made by Swiss Manager.

NH Chess Tournament 2010: The Last Edition

Let me summarize the performance of GM Wesley So in the NH Chess Tournament 2010, announced by the tournament director Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam to be the last edition.

Round 3:  Ljubojevic – So    1 - 0

Wesley So drew all his games but was defeated in round three for a score of 4.5. GM Hikaru Nakamura wins the right to play in the 2011 Amber Blindfold and Rapid Tournament after defeating GM Anish Giri in the tiebreaks.

The Rising Stars Team wins with a score of 26 to 24.

I guess Wesley So's next stop will be the 2010 World Chess Olympiad at Khanty-Mansysk unless he plays in the 10-part tournament, Campomanes Memorial Cup.  The tournament is set to happen on August 28-September 5, 2010 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Sports Complex, Manila.

Hong Kong Bus Deaths: News and Beyond

I read a shoutout on Facebook about Hong Kong's intention to avenge the deaths of the hostage taking which happened last Monday, August 23, 2010. I hurriedly checked BBC News and CNN for the statement but could not find it.

RP will send delegation to HK for explanation while Facebook is flooded by angry shout outs to vent their anger. Philippine National Police will have to go down to the lowest of lows and go back to school to learn the tricks of negotiations.

Hostage Deaths: Count going Up

Finally, the police force admits to their stupidity in handling the hostage taking of the tourists from Hong Kong yesterday, August 23, 2010. As of today, the death count went up to nine including the taker. Only in the Philippines you allow the hostage drama to run for ten hours and be fed live on national TV and on the international stage.

Quick to seize opportunities, P. Noy and the rest of his media group announced in a pre-dawn press conference about the  shortcomings of Philippine National Police in handling hostage situations.

Gunman and seven hostages killed in Manila

I learned about the hostage taking midday yesterday from the BBC News and the reporting team called the hostage taker as gunman. I was watching with my parents and my newly arrived balik-bayan brother and we were one in saying that BBC is into sensationalism. Why call someone a gunman when he hasn't shoot anyone yet?

 

Before I left  my parents house at around 2 in the afternoon to do my chess coaching in Merville, Paranaque, there was a piece of paper posted on the bus door which said:

"A big mistake over a big, wrong decision"

And this morning, I almost fell on my seat to learn that the hostage taking of several tourists from Hong Kong by dismissed senior police inspector Rolando Mendoza, ended with eight dead bodies including the hostage taker.



We have taken the center stage of the global news for the wrong reason!
